Embrace it all !
TerryJanuary 23, 2013 0 comments

After watching two episodes of 24 and a Vanessa Williams movie (can’t remember the title) last night, Mr. and I went to bed past mid-night. This is the third night in a row we were sleeping late. “We are adopting the sleeping habits of teenagers” I told hubby. No wonder I didn’t hear him getting out of bed at six to get ready for work. Not to worry, my children woke me up about half an hour later with their usual morning ruckus.

Five year old baby girl was squabbling with the nanny who was trying to get her ready for school – she didn’t want to get out of her new night robe (it’s hot, pink and vintage!)that I bought for her over the weekend. My almost ten year old baby boy was conversing at the top of his voice as he put on his uniform and getting his stuff from upstairs to downstairs with the loudest footsteps over! Usually, when the ruckus starts, I burst into the living room and threaten to drop their bags off at school then they (the children) will walk to school later.

Today I just lay in bed. I thought of my friends and relatives who have been on the painful journey of trying to have children with no success. I thought of how I cannot dare miss an appointment at the family planning clinic because, pap! In nine months I’ll be in theatre getting another caesarean. I realised that it’s not about my glass being half full or half empty; it’s that I have a glass and for that I am eternally grateful.

Thought my children are louder that road show campaigns, I quietly thanked God for the gift of children and dedicated my family to the Almighty. And guess what, somehow all the noise disappeared and twenty minutes later my babies were seated in the car ready for school! Oh, and I had managed to iron out a few creases on hubby’s office shirt.

As I get on today’s businesses and all I have to do, one word that is constantly springing in my thoughts is ‘Embrace’. As I look back and meditate on my life and experiences, not all is rosy but I’m gonna gracefully and gratefully embrace it all!
My babies when they were slightly younger *aaawwwwwhhhh*

Embracing all!

A new month
TerryJune 1, 2011 0 comments

I love the month June, no special reason. I think it has a cute name and the fact that it starts with a national holiday (Madaraka day) is obviously a big plus or maybe it's because I once attended Madaraka Primary School for my early education. The Nun-run system that definitely shaped me to the great woman I am today.
My month started out very well indeed, a few extra hours of sleep and a day spent with mi familia is invaluable.
Mr. and I went to town window shopping or so I thought kumbe he wanted to buy me a pair of sports shoes to replace my not-so-good-looking ngoma rubber-shoes.

I can feel the new spring in my step

aaawwwhhh! he's so sweet and thoughtful. The shoes are such a motivation to me and my exercise routine and also a challenge not to back out. Or is he politely trying to tell me something? No, no way. He loves the handles, he supports me unconditionally and has done so for the past 10 years.
I made some wonderful pancakes for our 4 O'clock tea and tomorrow's breakfast.

fluffy, golden and yummy!
They turned out to be the best I have ever made,  but then again what do you expect from a seasoned cook? mmhhh! she gets better with each meal.
I love it when my family can't keep their peeps and noses out of the kitchen when I'm in there doing my magic and more so when their bellies always have room for "one more bite".

My heart is cavorting .............. Oh, such bliss!

It's been a week, huh!

Last Monday I started on a mission of healthy eating and on Tuesday added exercise to fuel the success of this lifestyle. Today is the one week anniversary of my journey.
I have fully adapted to a routine that av tailor-made and I'm loving it!
When I started jogging, my thighs and calfs hurt a lot, but I vowed not to go back to my past ways when I'd use this as an excuse to miss the next session and now they are synergized with my mind, no more pain, every part of me seems to have realized I am in this for the long haul !
Everyday I try to add a new stretch or workout to my regiment for wholesome fitness.
Cutting out junk from my diet has not been as a mountainous task as I thought it would. I can safely pass by the candy isles in the supermarket with no tamaa (craving) at all.
Sticking to 'just enough' portions has been quite uphill though especially with the Sunday night pilau and chicken but a girl can indulge guilty free once in a week, can't she? I try to make makeup for this with lots on veggies and salads on the side and during the rest of the days. Oh, and I've taken to water like a fish, ha!
The internet has been a resource of great help to me in my quest for optimal health though some info can be conflicting and controversial, so I have to kinda sieve through and get what is realistic (most especially in Africa) and works for me.
I'm loving the resilience and strong resolve I have developed in the course of that one week because it ultimately means a healthy family for me since I influence the food choices everybody in my family makes. Wow, I'm really a powerful woman kumbe !

I have plotted out my goals, envisioned my success, become my own greatest cheerleader, affirmed my self-belief and will definitely follow through with my goals as advised by an article I came across on Yahoo! and now am basking in Moments and Bliss!

Buenos dias mis amigos, Blessings!

I am blessed

My kids sometimes drive me up the wall, so does Mr. I'm sure sometimes they feel the same way about me too. Yet, I love them to bits and am sure they love me too.
As I sit here ignoring their(kids) high decibel play, oblivious to my need for silence when watching my favourite soap  Ooooh this Jose Miguel guy is so HOT I realize how blessed I am to have a wonderful family.

A blessed Easter !

I told y'all HERE that am gonna make lots of goodies for mis hijos y mi esposo a lot more this year. Today I was in church all ears to the living word when I had this very strong urge to make mandazis, I couldn't wait to get home and quench the deep urge.
Luckily, av perfected the art of mandazi making so I didn't have a Cinnamon roll moment.
